In 2018 Tough Runner UK showed the whole of the UK that we meant business and was on a mission to carve out our own legacy in sports history and in 2019 we become a household known name across the UK securing over 30 races between Wales, England, Scotland and Ireland. Our staff and incredible team of volunteers stand ready to ensure you have the best race experience possible. Meet some of our team below.

ABOUT ADAM:
Co-founder and director Adam Newton from Swansea has spent most of his living life living and breathing triathlon.
Adam Has also had a successful spell running cross country for Wales and Triathlon for GBR.
Adam now spends his time growing Tough Runner UK and racing Ironman around the world.
DAN BROWN

ABOUT DAN:
Co-founder and Director Dan Brown from Swansea has been a keen runner since the young age of 12 taking part in many races over multiple distances. Dan has a trait for perfectionism and vision for Tough Runner on a large scale. He is dedicated to growing Tough Runner UK into an internationally recognised name and providing runners with the ‘ultimate experience’.

ABOUT BEN:
Co-founder and director Ben Gibbs from Swansea has a passion for running. He identifies that races across the UK are becoming flooded with very average races and is confident that Tough Runner UK will become a driving force with value for money, stunning, challenging races.

ABOUT REBECCA:
Meet Rebecca, a valued member of the Tough Runner team. Rebecca has had a love for running all of her life running races all over the world. Rebecca also co-founded Hoka Half and Buff 10k and has undeniable knowledge within the field.

ABOUT SHARON:
Sharon is a valued member of the Tough Runner events team. With an extensive background in athletics and employed by Welsh Athletics themselves, Sharon is no doubt an expert in the field.
Adam Gittins (AKA TIM)
Event Coordinator & Sales Manager
ABOUT TIM:
Meet Tim, Tim works full time for Tough Runner and is in charge of the day to day running of Tough Runner ongoings, from event organising to sales management, Tim plays a vital part in Tough Runner’s fast moving journey.
Ryan SamuAl
Event Coordinator / Construction Crew
ABOUT Ryan:
Ryan is one of our longest serving staff members and manages event setup and breakdown. He also helps coordinate ongoings within Tough Runner. Ryan has a BSc honours in Sports Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage and also an MSc in Strength & Conditioning.
Alex Wilson

ABOUT ALEX:
Meet Alex, Alex works for Tough Runner full time helping organise the event planing and day-to-day ongoings. Alex has many years experience in event organising and carries vast experience. Alex is also a keen athlete taking part in running and triathlon events around the UK.
Lucy DriscolL
Event Admin
ABOUT Lucy:
Lucy discovered her passion for running later in life and has competed in several running events. On race days Lucy helps on registration and handing out those all important finishing medals. Lucy also keeps the boys in check and keeps the headquarters clean and tidy.
Francesca Ray
Event Admin
ABOUT FRAN:
Francesca found a passion for running after years of sport and gym based training. Completing a number of different events across the country. She loves nothing more than seeing others achieve goals they never thought possible! Francesca helps oversee the registration tents and will be waiting at the finish line with your well deserved finisher medal!
MATT HOLLEY (AKA SWEEP)
Event Construction Crew / Race Sweep
ABOUT MATT:
Meet Matt, he first started his Tough Runner journey as a running participant which then led to volunteering. Matt has progressed to become an official member of the Tough Runner Crew assisting with construction and breakdown of the events. Matt is also the official Tough Runner sweep that follows the race to make sure no one falls behind.
CHAD SCALZINI
ABOUT CHAD:
Owner & Director of Scal Events in South Africa, Chad Scalzini is from Cape Town has been planning and organising events in SA for over 18 years. Chad started out his events journey as Operations Manager of the biggest timed cycling event in the world (Cape Town Cycle Tour). He has since gone on to organise everything from short to long distance runs, F1 show runs and kiteboarding events.
Chad is now looking forward to this new chapter of expanding the Tough Runner brand into South Africa with the team in the UK.
