Tough Runner UK, organiser of the UK’s biggest trail running events, today announced that it is adding Chilham Castle Duathlons & the Owler Triathlons to its growing UK Network.

Adam Newton, director of TRUK, said: “We are pleased to welcome the Owler Triathlons and Chilham Castle Duathlons to our network, two thriving events in the South East. Tough Runner UK has brought a unique style to the participation sports sector and we are delighted to be taking over these events.”

The events were previously run by Kent-based company Tri Spirit Events, but directors Liz King and Ali Steed are keen to increase their focus on coaching and training by offering training camps to beginners and improvers in both cycling and triathlon in Mallorca and the UK.

Liz King said: “We have loved running these events for more than a decade now and we are delighted that they will continue under the Tough Runner UK brand. Adam and his team are top-notch organisers and we know the events and all competitors are in safe hands.

“We are grateful to everyone who has taken part in our events over the years, and also to the sponsors and stakeholders that we could not have done our events without, especially our Tri Spirit Team members who have really made the events as successful as they have been. We hope to see many of you at our training camps both here and abroad in the months and years to come.”

General registration for all of these events will open in November and any entrants who have not been able to compete this year due to the postponement of events as a result of Covid-19 restrictions, will automatically be transferred to next year’s events.

In addition, Tri Spirit Events will be offering special discounted rates to its previous competitors as well as all previous and current Tough Runner UK competitors for their training camps during 2021.

Adam added: “We remain confident in our future; our focus and objectives are unchanged; and we are ready to face the opportunities and challenges ahead. With the cancellation of most participation events in 2020, this has been a hugely challenging time for everyone.

“However, we know that it has resulted in an even greater demand for our events and we are extremely optimistic about the future and the increased role that participation sport and its partners can play in improving both physical and mental health.”
