Faye Johnson

Energetic fun loving Faye will normally be found half way up a mountain or on a trail somewhere in the Welsh Countryside!
A personal trainer and multisport coach, Faye has a passion for the outdoors and all things trail and mountain running.Competing regularly, she has had success with selection to run for Wales, podium finishes at a number of races over the past few years, including 2nd female at our very own Great Celtic Trail Marathon 2017, Man vs Horse 2017 and Endurance Life Gower Ultra 2016.

Challenge Wales Trail Running Experience Itinerary

Camp Registration at the Headquarters of Tough Runner UK . With immediate access to great running trails from our HQ, feel free to shake out the legs with a short run on your own after completing your check in.

Itinerary Day 1. 

Introduction to Trail Running

9.00am – Arrivals at The Lodge. Tea and coffee served.

9.30am – Introduction to Challenge Wales Trail running experience. Some history about Afan forest.

10.00am – What is trail running? Why trail run?

10.15am – Trail running footwear, and gear.

11am – Coffee/tea break. Change into run gear if needed

11.20am – Trail running skills/technique/etiquette (Emphasis on footwork, body position, core strength, running with others.)

12.30pm – Runners friendly lunch at the Lodge.

1.30pm – Training for your first trail running event.

2.15pm – Group run. (dependant on numbers and abilities 2 route distances. 5km and 10km? Or just a 10km with sub groups according to ability)

3.45pm – Yoga and stretch session.

4.30pm – End of day. Relax, socialise.

6.00 – Dinner at the Lodge.

Itinerary Day 2. 

Taking your trail running to the next level

9am – Arrivals at The Lodge. Tea and coffee served.

9.30am – Introductions. Abit about Challenge Wales/Afan Forest and the day to come.

10.00am – Gear, footwear and difference of kit for variable terrain and distance.

10.45am – coffee/tea break. Kit change if needed.

11.00am – Core strength and prehab for Trail Runners.

11.45am – Tech session. Climbing and descending skills.

12.30am – Runners friendly lunch at the Lodge.

1.30pm – Running nutrition (Torq taste session)

2.20pm – Quick change for afternoon run.

2.30pm – Group run. (10km – 16km)

4.00pm – tea/coffee and snack

4.15pm – Yoga session.

5.00pm – Round up of the weekend and Q&A.

5.30pm – Bye everyone!
